What is left once humanity is gone? Music — and then silence.
Humanity is gone. Silence has not quite fallen yet: what is left is the world’s echo, still sounding with no one left to hear it. West and East clash one last time, one melody turning into another and back again; pictures flash up and morph, and no single picture holds anymore — only the residual, agonizing transformations of what used to be. Then come the last words: “And at last, silence.” And silence falls; a final blast breaks it once more, and then it falls for good.
It’s an instrumental piece in which a great deal turns into something else: there’s a battle of West and East, melodies passing from Vivaldi into Arabic chants and back. The only words are in Arabic, “And at last, silence.” Then silence falls, then a final explosion, and the album ends.
The translation is a crib, not a singing version.
